My husband, Danny, is one month away from completing his CDL truck driving school. Once he graduates from school and practices with his permit for six months he will officially be able to drive semi-trucks. When Danny first mentioned the idea of becoming a semi-truck driver I wasn’t very surprised or shocked at all. Back in Colombia he drove a passenger bus, and now he works as a truck driver delivering Kosher products in the New York area. Even though my husband will be on the road a lot more, I support his plans wholeheartedly because he has a career that is both fulfilling and enjoyable for him.
I do feel a little nervous about his health, though. I imagine that maintaining good health as a truck driver is very difficult and requires a lot of creativity. Although I’m sure Danny will do his best it will be a challenge to plan work outs and find stops that offer healthy food. My husband realizes now that his health is more important than ever. Just the other day as we were in the gym he mentioned he feels better when he exercises.

I don’t know much about the trucking industry yet, but I expect Danny will be on the road a lot more the first few years of driving semi-trucks. Even though he has driven large and in charge vehicles before semi-trucks are very different from driving passenger buses!
I will certainly miss my husband so much if he is gone for days at a time. As long as he is doing what he loves I am so happy for this next step in his career.
As for me I will definitely be adopting a pet to keep me company at home. I love dogs and I had quite a few growing up. I’m already thinking about all the places my dog and I are going to go hiking together. 😀
