Last week was so fun! I spent the long four day weekend with my family. Danny wasn’t here to celebrate because he was off working. 🙁 Sigh, the life of a trucker. I can’t wait to have him home in a few short weeks!
Anyway, we did a shared birthday party (mine and my nephew’s) this past Sunday. I suggested dulce de leche cake but what we got was chocolate since my nephew Joshua doesn’t like anything else. 😀 It’s okay though because the cake was still really good! It was all gone that night! The raspberry filling was delish.

We ordered food from a nearby restaurant and the leftovers lasted me four days! Nothing beats frijoles, arroz, y carne desmechada for lunch. Maybe arepas, though. I was just telling Danny today that I can’t wait to try the arepas when I visit Colombia for the first time. These Goya arepas just don’t cut it. I know there’s better arepas out there waiting to be eaten by me! Can you tell all I think about is food? 🙂
Marvin climbed into one of the gift bags later that night. He’s so cute I can’t handle it. Right now he’s sleeping on top of a bookshelf in my bedroom. I think he likes it because the sun coming through the window keeps him warm. Last night there were stray cats outside that were making him go crazy. I hardly slept last night with all his noise!
We also went to the beach this week. Usually the water is freezing and the waves are strong but it was the total opposite! We got so lucky!
If you want to stay up to date with me I post almost everyday on my Facebook page, just quick and fun little updates that I don’t often share on my blog. My schedule is kind of packed now that I added three summer classes in the mix. Trying to get this degree asap, ya know? I’m trying to spend as much time as possible with my family lately. My mom is going to Ecuador with my cousin and my niece for a month and a half and I’ll miss them so much then!
We will be moving pretty soon too so that’s another thing I’m looking forward to. I feel like I haven’t completely settled where we are living now but this new place is just perfect for us. It’s within walking distance of everything I could possible need and just five minutes away from the train station. I’m always in the NYC area so that wasn’t something we couldn’t skimp on.
I feel so grateful for everything Danny and I have accomplished thus far and my family of course. I love that we are always there for each other, and that I have so many people in my life I can count on. There is nothing greater in life than family.
What a fun week!
