How I Whiten My Teeth at Home + Giveaway

Before trying Smile Brilliant, I never gave much thought to whitening my teeth. Mostly because it seemed like an expensive process and one that I’d have to make multiple trips to the dentist for. I was never up for using whitening strips either since my friend told me how sensitive her teeth became after using them. My teeth were slightly yellow and dull before completing my whitening sessions, and this was most noticeable on my canines. Those are the pointy teeth that are responsible for tearing up delicious steak, and if you’re a vegetarian, well I’m not sure what vegetables are as tough as steak, but you catch my drift.

When Smile Brilliant first contacted me back in June and asked me to try out their products, I was excited but nonetheless hesitant to accept their offer. Why do you ask? Well, for starters, that would involve taking up close photos of my teeth to share with the internet. What is SmileBrilliant and how does it work?

My teeth look much more bright and less dull in August after consistent use of the teeth whitening gel. Also, my before pic doesn’t do any justice for my teeth on the side of my mouth so I included another pic below, taken just earlier this year. And yes, that is one of the neighborhood cats in the background. He likes to hang out in the backyard!

Now, compare that side profile to my final results below. My teeth are noticeably more white where before it was stained. Such a big difference, right?

From the Lab Straight to your Doorstep

The teeth whitening process is super easy. Seriously, anyone could do this. Once you order, you’ll get the complete package sent in the mail. You’ll have to make your dental impressions first and wait for them to dry before you can send them back in. There’s a prepaid envelope included so all you have to do is throw (not literally) these bad boys in there and drop it off at your post office.

Once the lab receives your dental impressions, they get to work on your custom fitted trays. It didn’t take a long time to get mine in the mail; their turnaround time is excellent.

 

My Experience Whitening

According to the website, it takes 7-14 sessions of treatment to have all stains removed. In total, I used this product about seven times, and I waited one to two days in between each whitening session.It’s very important to follow all the directions because my first time doing this I completely messed it up and got the gel all over my gums. The directions say to put the smallest amount of teeth whitening gel in the trays, and even though I read this before starting, I figured it would be a smart idea to fill my trays up with whitening gel. I know, dumb. Whatever you do, don’t do that! If you use the smallest amount like the directions state, then the whitening gel will stay on your teeth, and not on your gums like it did with mine. Once I corrected my mistake, all my other sessions went smoothly. In this case, more of a good thing does not, in fact, equal a good thing.

 

Other than that small hiccup, I did not experience any sensitivity whatsoever, and towards the end of my treatments, I went without the desensitizing gel. My custom fitted trays were comfortable, and my overall experience was great. I waited one to two days in between each whitening session, and I only kept my trays on for 45 minutes to 1 hour in order to prevent any sensitivity.

 

My Final Thoughts

In addition to having whiter teeth, I’m also way more confident about smiling now for pictures. I drink coffee and soda more than I’d like to admit so my diet hasn’t necessarily had all the makings of a beautiful and bright smile. What I do think is crazy is the fact that I have a completely different smile in a month of using whitening treatments.

Having a brighter smile has made me feel so much more confident about my gap too.

When I was growing up I begged my dad to get me braces constantly. I just wanted to look like everyone else, but you know what, I’m so glad my dad refused to get me braces because it taught me to accept myself the way I was. Whitening my teeth only makes me want to show off my gap toothed smile even more!
