Hello again! June has been such a whirlwind of emotions and changes in our lives that I’ve barely had time to stop and think. Our family went through a difficult (not to mention stressful) transition this past month too. We could not have moved forward without the support of our family and friends, and thankfully we all seem to have moved forward into a new chapter of our lives. Even my nephew, who graduated the 8th grade this year, has an exciting transition to look forward to when he starts high school in a few short months.

Highlights from the Month of June

Joshua presented during the ceremony. So proud of him!

I made sure to get a pic in with the graduate.
Danny and I were so excited to attend Joshua’s graduation ceremony. We know that high school will be so much fun for him. After the ceremony we went out to eat with the family, and took some silly pics. I also got to spend some time with my niece this week too. Ugh, my niece is just the best. She always wants to learn new things and she’s the sweetest little girl ever. She always writes me notes that just make my heart melt. I’m a lucky aunt!

I love this photo of us! We ate at an amazing Dominican restaurant that day.

On Danny’s trailer
Danny finally made it back after three weeks out on the road and truck problems. So glad to have my husband back home a few extra days because I’ve missed him so much! He is so caring towards my family and has so much love for them. I appreciate him staying out extra days so he could make it for the graduation ceremony. We were also able to find a new place this week which we are so excited about. There will be more space available to us and we love that it is close to everything–stores, public transportation, and my family. It’s the perfect home (for now) and in a quiet area.
This week we celebrated my birthday at the Cheesecake Factory and walked along the Waterfront at night overlooking New York City. It was my first time eating at Cheesecake and so far so good! I didn’t have space for cheesecake but my beef with chipotle sauce was amazing. Lately I’ve been really into eating spicy food, and that’s probably because my cousin is here from Ecuador. She made this delicious sauce with jalapeño peppers that I’ve been putting on everything, even my eggs.

I took this pic when I was in the truck with Danny. He keeps this photo of us on the driver’s side so he can look at it everyday. He’s just the sweetest.
Now that I’ve started packing things up, I’m finding all my old things that have managed to find a hiding place in my home. When I was going through boxes in our garage I was surprised to find old clothes that managed to slip by unnoticed for a year. Moments like those make me feel a little embarrassed because it makes me realize how lucky I am to have all that I have. I always think I could use more clothes but this reality check made me grateful for all the things I already have. Including my beautiful skirt from Loft (pictured below). I love this darn thing and I LOVE Loft. I fell in love with that store when my best friend started working there her first year of college.

I found this beautiful maxi skirt I purchased from Loft last year. I can’t believe I forgot about this piece. It’s the most comfortable thing I own for the summer season.

I “borrowed” Danny’s hat for a photo op. This hat has special meaning to us because he wore it in our wedding photos!
Another highlight from the month of June was the Portuguese Festival in Newark. It was a lot smaller this year but still fun nonetheless. We celebrated with Sumol (a Portuguese soda) and watched the concert from our table. We didn’t join in the dances but it was fun to watch everyone and relax among the crowd.

Well that’s it for my June Highlights. We have so much more to look forward to this summer, but I’m loving everything so far. We faced a few tough moments but nothing we couldn’t get through as a family. I hope summer doesn’t go by so fast because I’m loving the weather so much. Until next time. -Diana
