Welcome to our blog!
Hey, everyone! Thank you for wanting to get to know us a bit better and sticking around on our blog. Diana Met Danny started out as a way to document our life and share it more easily with Danny’s family in Colombia. I (Diana here!) am the one who mostly writes on this blog so I ran with it and kind of made it my own. Danny posts occasionally on our Spanish Section of the blog. My husband is a trucker so he doesn’t have a lot of time on his hands!
After a short three-month engagement we were married on September 15, 2015, at the City Clerk’s Office in New York City. As time passes I’m amazed at how much more I love my husband than the day I married him. It’s weird to admit that, but it’s true. The experiences we go through make our marriage stronger because we choose to love each other every single day despite all the challenges.
In our first year of marriage, we experienced job loss, a move, grief, getting into debt. Basically just a bunch of shit that nobody ever wants to deal with. For a while, I thought my life would always be filled with negative moments, and I’d never experience what it’s like to have picture perfect marriage. I really think it’s all the other lifestyle blogs with picture perfect lives that did me in.
Our first year of marriage was a turning point for us. Lots of growing pains, that’s for sure. God threw a lot of things at us but we came out it stronger just like He intended. I’m happy to report that less than two years later we are well off and so much better than what we started with.
Where are you guys from?
My husband is Colombian, and I am Ecuadorian-American. I also have some Polish and Irish heritage in that mix, but that’s way far down the line. We both speak Spanish and are much more connected to our Latin culture, considering most of our family still lives in Colombia or Ecuador.
What can I expect to read on this blog?
Believe it or not, this is very much a lifestyle blog! 😀
I post a lot about paying off debt, using coupons, and saving money where you can. There are a lot of frugal related posts on Diana Met Danny, but I wouldn’t say that’s what we’re all about. We use our paying-off-debt tools so that we can one day have the lifestyle we want without putting it on a credit card.
